LET'S say you twist your ankle in Fulham Palace Road. You're in agony but at least you're near Charing Cross Hospital. You look at the map on your brand spanking new iPhone 5 to find the exact location but you can't believe your eyes when you see it has vanished and is now... Roehampton University.

Now pallid and nauseous from the pain, you have to think quickly and realise that, although not ideal, you could get on a tube from nearby Hammersmith Station and try and get treated at Chelsea and Westminster in Fulham Road. You type 'Hammersmith Station' into your new map and are stunned when it appears the station has been moved...to Willesden.

They are just two of a number of location gaffes we spotted - with a little help from our Twitter followers - on the much-ridiculed ioS 6 software on the new iPhone 5 and on upgraded earlier models.

The unfortunate situation arose following a spat between Apple and Google, which resulted in Apple banning its rival from producing apps on its new product and deciding to make its own navigational aid.

The split has resulted in somewhat of a mess, with users up in arms and Apple forced to advise customers to use rival websites for accurate information while it works on fixing the bugs.

But judging from what we found with a 20 minute map scan of the area, there is much to be ironed out.

Another transport mistake surrounds Earl's Court Tube station, which is apparently now about a mile further south towards Chelsea in Edith Grove.

Phantom location changes aren't confined to transport hubs, either. Popular Fulham Broadway bar Fiesta Havana - slap bang in the middle of town - has been moved past the first entrance of Stamford Bridge football ground by Maxwell Road.

Spellings aren't much better, with the 'D' on the end Westfield Park in Lots Road, Chelsea, having been left off, and a rather shocking attempt at getting Shepherd's Bush Green right, which sees the 'Shepherd's' as 'Shepard's'.

There are some places which just don't exist, some of which went out of business months, if not years, ago, including a mystical Thresher's off-licence in Petley Road and a string of shops and cafes in Fulham Road like White Stuff, The Wheatsheaf, Coffee and Crayons and Blue Orange.

Let's hope the firm can get the mess sorted quickly. In the meantime, it's probably best to dust down that A-Z...
