IT SEEMS the newly refurbished Shepherds Bush Green is attracting lots of people this summer - but also their rubbish.Ed Riseman, owner of The Big Group, a marketing agency based in nearby Holland Park, tweeted these grubby pictures of bins overflowing with food and drink waste last week. He used the hashtag #lbhffail.

Its so annoying that after all the work to renovate Shepherds Bush Green its being trashed because it seems there are only four bins, that I have counted, on the whole green, he told the Chronicle. I hope flagging this up helps as they did such a nice job on redesigning the green.

The green officially opened last month after Hammersmith and Fulham Council spent £2.6million sprucing up the previously drab green space. But its growing popularity has evidently been a strain on its bins, and the authority has since pledged to install a further four bins to cope with the extra litter.

Greg Smith, deputy council leader, said: "The revamped Shepherds Bush Green has never looked more beautiful and is being used by more people than ever before.

"Unfortunately, more people leads to additional litter and the council has bought an extra four double bins which will be installed in the coming days. Anyone caught littering by the council in Shepherds Bush Green or anywhere else in the borough will be made to pay an £80 fine."
