A RECORD number of pupils in the borough are celebrating receiving their first choice of secondary school.
Seventy-eight per cent of pupils starting secondary school in September have been offered their first preference, according to Hillingdon Council, with 94 per cent being offered a place at one of their top three schools.
This, says the council is an increase on last year’s secondary school placement and above the London average for receiving first choice (71 per cent) and top three (91 per cent) school offers in 2013.
Hillingdon is in the top six of London councils providing the highest number of first choice secondary school placements to its youngsters, according to the London-wide Co-ordinated Admissions Board.
Councillor David Simmonds, Hillingdon Council cabinet member for education and children’s services, said: “We are proud to be able to offer a record number of pupils their first choice of secondary school and that this percentage has improved from last year.”
