Walkers have a unique opportunity to explore some of London’s most incredible buildings while raising money for people affected by cancer.

Registration has just opened for The London Night Hike which is run by Charing Cross Hospital-based cancer centre Maggie's.

Now in its seventh year, it takes place on Friday, September 16, offering walkers the chance to see the capital by night by taking part in a 10 or 20-mile course.

Some of the country’s most striking buildings will be open for the first time to host refreshments and entertainment, including gospel choirs, artists and a massage along the route.

Leadenhall Market, City Hall, Southbank Centre, Royal Geographical Society, Maggie’s London, Royal Institute of British Architects, Horse Guards and 20 Gresham Street are among the building that will be open.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who supported Maggie’s London Night Hike last year, said: “I would implore you to fund the work that Maggie’s Centres do around the country. The work that they do is extraordinary and it is a beautiful, beautiful idea. The centres are a sanctuary, a place of calm, reflection and help for people who are suffering from cancer.”

For the first time this year hikers will be able to walk together, allowing friends, family and colleagues of differing abilities to take part for the first ten miles.

Last year, more than £700,000 was raised and to date more than 6,000 hikers have raised nearly £3m to help fund a network of Maggie’s Centres across the UK.

Walkers can register for the event by visiting http://www.maggiescentres.org/londonnighthike or calling 0300 123 1801 and the staggered start times begin at 7.30pm.
