LINFORD Christie's niece is in the running to be crowned Miss World and is set on following her uncle's foot steps to become an Olympic gold medallist.

But the glamorous Rachel Christie must first triumph the grand final of the Miss England contest on Monday.

The 20-year-old from West Kensington who beat hundreds of rivals to win the Miss London City title was fast tracked to be one of 50 finalists in the finale.

Rachel said: "Anyone could win this contest. I will do my best and not worry about anyone else."

The talented athlete who is keen on the heptathlon and a 400m runner is currently training at the Linford Christie stadium to compete in the 2012 Olympics.

But for now she has three rounds to progress through in the hope of becoming Miss England. In the first round she is required to wear something eco-friendly and without giving away too much Rachel will be in a 70's style outfit.

Then the second round will see her pull off clothing designed by a fashion student from Liverpool and the finale will be an evening dress picked by herself.

Voting lines are now open and will end today (July 20) at 6pm before the start of the grand final at London Hilton Metropole Hotel, Edgeware Road.
