MORE than 1,000 crimes have been committed in Hounslow's schools over the last five years - that's equivalent to one a day during term time.

An investigation by the Chronicle has revealed police have made 204 arrests at the borough's secondary schools since 2004 and the offences committed include assault, bomb hoaxes, possession of drugs and racial attacks.

Deputy leader of the Hounslow Council, Councillor Mark Bowen, described the figures as 'disturbing' and has pledged to look into the problem.

The situation at Feltham Community College has got so bad that they are spending £250,000 bolstering security.
