A RABBI completed a two-day cycle ride in aid of charity.

Aaron Goldstein from Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue joined forces with rabbis of all denominations for the nationwide Rabbi Relay Ride, and undertook a 135-mile leg of the journey from Lands End to John O’Groats.

Mr Goldstein said: “It was absolutely brilliant, I can’t believe how fantastic it was, everyone in the countryside was so welcoming.

“I have definitely got the cycling bug and will be cycling the four miles from my home to the synagogue every day. It only takes 10 more minutes but it gives you so much energy for the day and I have seen so much more of the countryside, not only on the ride but here as well.”

The route took the rabbi and a support team from Weston-super-Mare to Birmingham with an overnight stop in picturesque Cheltenham in Gloucestershire.

Rabbi Goldstein has so far raised £1,500 for charities including Leket Yisrael, which redistributes food thrown out by supermarkets to those in need, and Water Aid.

The event was organised with Gefiltefest, a Jewish food charity.
