Following the Mark Duggan inquest verdict, extra police are on the streets of the borough.

Chief Inspector Rob Willson of Hillingdon police confirmed that more patrols were being carried out to reassure the community, with a personnel carrier full of officers paying visits to the Lombardy Retail Park in Coldharbour Lane, Hayes, and the South Ruislip retail park off Victoria Road, South Ruislip.

Both were scenes of minor disturbances during the riots of 2011 after Mr Duggan was shot dead by a police officer following a vehicle stop in Tottenham.

Last night, emotions ran high in north London as the 10-person inquest jury returned an 8-2 verdict that Mr Duggan had been lawfully killed.

Mr Wilson said there was 'no community tension' here that he was aware of, but extra police officers would be on patrol in Uxbridge town centre.

"Extra officers will be on patrol for the next two weeks," he said.

"At his stage we have no indication of a rise in community tension in this part of west London."

Hillingdon borough escaped largely unscathed during the 2011 riots, although there were some arrests, either for public order offences here or for involvement in the riots elsewhere.
