HUNDREDS of people gave a warm welcome to The Queen as she paid a royal visit to a school in Edgware today.
The sun was shining brightly as Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Krishna Avanti School in Camrose Avenue at 2.20pm, where schoolchildren, neighbours and community groups lined the street to wave their Jubilee flags.
The royal couple, who visited Edgware as part of celebrations to mark her 60 years on the throne, were entertained with dance and musical performances before viewing a photographic exhibition, 60 Faces Of Harrow, which was put together by Harrow Council photographer Dermot Carlin.
Cheers erupted and well-wishers gave their flags a final wave as the Queen and Prince Phillip were escorted from the school and along Camrose Avenue.
Belmont School’s deputy head Eileen Davies was among the crowds with pupils Pooja Patel, 10, and Pauline Boateng, 11.
Pauline said: “We waved our flags and the Queen waved at us. It was astonishing and amazing to see her. It’s been an inspiring day and I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.”
Uniao de Mocidade were also turned out to play some samba tunes on their drums, tambourines and whistles.
