A BRENTFORD woman was due before magistrates today accused of going door to door asking for money to visit a relative in hospital.
The 39-year-old was arrested on Wednesday April 10 and charged with four counts of fraud by misrepresentation.
It comes after residents in Acton, Chiswick and Isleworth complained about an Asian woman wearing pyjama style trousers coming to their doors in distress, claiming to have a relative in hospital so she needs money to get a taxi there.
The Chronicle highlighted the problem in mid-March and following this Hounslow police were contacted by several people with more information.
DC Mike Richardson, of the Chiswick Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "The Metropolitan Police and myself would like to thank the residents of Hounslow who assisted in this matter."
The woman was due to appear at Feltham Magistrates Court today.
