SIXTY football-mad pupils at Whitton School helped to smash a world record - just by playing a simple game of keepy uppy.

More than 1,200 students from 21 schools across England recently took part in the attempt to break the Guinness World Record of most people simultaneously playing keepy uppy.

The attempt saw 634 children successfully perform keepy uppies for 10 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 459 people.

Every student who took part in the attempt, sponsored by the BBC cartoon Likeaballs, also raised money for Sport Relief.

"Whitton School was involved with the planning of the attempt from the very beginning," said James Thorpe, director of sport at the school.

"It was a great way for students to raise money for Sport Relief and work together as a team."
