Pupils were visited by a kitchen on wheels as part of an initiative to change the way they think about food, writes Ali Khalid Mir.

More than 140 pupils from Cardinal Wiseman School in Greenford Road were taught how to select, prepare and cook healthy food during the three-day visit.

They cooked various dishes including smoked haddock and apple and blackberry crumble, under the supervision of two teachers.

Sixth formers were also given a special 'university cooking' crash course,on the lorry which opens out into a kitchen that can accommodate 18 people.

The scheme is run by the charity Design for Life Educational Trust and visits registered schools across the country.

Jacqueline Parks, head of the school's hospitality department, said: "It's not just about making the right and healthy choice - it's about enjoying how you get there."
