A GROUP of 15 students their teachers are saving for a trip to Africa where they will look after rhinos and visit one of the last remaining tribes.
The girls from Notting Hill and Ealing High School are raising funds for the four-week trip to Botswana in July, and so far they have raised more than £2,000 towards the costs.
The students will visit the deprived southern African country, volunteering at a rhino sanctuary which protects the last remaining population of white rhinos in the country, and working in a San Bushmen village in the Kalahari Desert with the Permaculture Trust of Botswana.
Amelia Powell, 15, who is the student fundraiser for the school in Cleveland Road, Ealing, said: “We need to raise as much as possible. We raised £1,000 bag packing for a day at Waitrose in September and about £500 from our stall at the school's Christmas bazaar, where we made bracelets to sell.
“I am really excited about the trip. There will be a great satisfaction in helping out and experiencing the lives of the local community. It's not going to be just a holiday.”
