Pupils could not keep a lid on their joy at helping someone else for Christmas by filling their charity shoeboxes to the brim with goodies.

Youngsters aged between three and 16 from Harvington School, in Castlebar Road, elected this year to join in the

Operation Christmas child campaign, which aims to brighten the season for children around the world.

Headteacher Joyce Millar said: "They did a great job. Our school has a strong history of charitable participation and this term alone has contributed to

The Ealing Soup Kitchen, Jeans for Genes, The British Legion, BBC Children in Need, Operation Christmas Child and Crisis."

As part of the annual Christmas child appeal people invited to fill ordinary shoe boxes with small toys, school

supplies, sweets, and other gifts for needy children around the world. It is the world's largest international Christmas project and since 1990 has brought a smile to more than 60 million boys and girls. * Visit the www.operation christmaschild.org.uk website.
