STUDENTS at an ‘outstanding’ school have been celebrating their multicultural diversity.

Pupils at Nower Hill High School, in George V Avenue, Pinner, enjoyed their classmates playing African drums and sitar and contemporary Indian and African dance, while the Glee Club put on a show-stopping performance, on Wednesday last week.

Zara Mainwaring, a teacher in the ethnical minority achievement department, said: “Nower Hill’s recent outstanding Ofsted report highlighted the school’s proportion of students from minority ethnic backgrounds and the proportion who speak English as an additional language to be high.

“With this in mind, the school’s ethnic minority achievement team and inclusion faculty annually organise the vibrant event, which includes entertainment provided by both students and staff. It’s a fantastic event, where students and staff can get together to chat, mingle and eat, while celebrating how diverse we all are.

“Our recent Ofsted inspection talked about the progress of our students from minority ethnic backgrounds and those who speak English as an additional language in a really positive way, and we wanted to celebrate that success in particular this year.”
