Children dressed up as historical figures for their ‘London day’.
Pupils at Oldfield Primary School in Oldfield Lane, Greenford, learnt about life in different parts of society within the capital in the Roman times during a variety of activities last Friday (17).
The day was part of a prize for winning last summer’s Mayor of London’s London Knowledge Quiz 2013, and artists from the museum came to do workshops on Roman London with all the classes.
Headteacher Elizabeth Day said: “Our year six pupils were the winners in the quiz and it was a great thing to achieve.
“The children all came dressed up as historical figures including Florence Nightingale, Elizabeth I and II, Sherlock Holmes and various soldiers.
“Something like this where people can really bring to life a sense of a very different London over 2,000 years ago is absolutely excellent for helping children grasp historical context and how London has evolved over the centuries.”
