ISLEWORTH residents are being invited to a public drop-in session next week held by Thames Water after the devastating floods earlier this year.

Householders are being asked to attend the event on Monday (December 20) at the Holiday Inn, between 4pm and 6pm.

The purpose of the session is to discuss planned works to prevent the disaster happening again..

Pipes burst twice this year, destroying homes and cars in Isleworth, and leaving many families uprooted for long periods of time.

Thames Water hopes to re-line the trunk main, from Twickenham High Street to the football stadium in Brentford, in an attempt to stop it happening again.

A spokesman for Thames Water said: "Relining means another tube will be inserted within the existing tube, making it less prone to leaks and bursts.

"This work will be done in a way that cuts down the amount of digging we have to do in order to minimise disruption. The new lining will be dragged through the existing pipe. Some digging will be required at intervals along the route but nowhere near as much as putting a huge trench along this stretch of road".
