IT IS good news for the parents of Brent children who would otherwise be without a school place that the Wembley Park site has been cleared and the ideological protesters have been thwarted.

As someone who has sat on a school admissions forum I know well that for many years there have been problems with places. Nearly all local schools are full. If Brent does not build the academy, children will be without places.

I therefore find it astonishing that any Brent teacher should choose to spend the summer holiday getting up to the sorts of ridiculous antics we have seen from Hank Roberts and his unhappy little band.

At least it is now official that Hank is out of his tree, and work to provide the places is under way.

Teaching is an honourable profession. It is about imparting knowledge to children, teaching them responsibility and citizenship, and preparing them for the world ahead. It is a profession that deserves to have, and usually has, good role models.

It is beyond me why any teacher should go out of their way to act illegally, revel in causing disruption and cause huge costs to council tax payers.I urge Hank and his crew to focus on what matters. Stick to the teaching, and try to regain some respect, if it's not too late.
