I refer to the report in the Chronicle (November 13) 'Residents furious over marshalling yard plan', following the St Giles Hotel Open Day in Feltham held by BAA and its consultants.

I was pleased that your reporter could find a number of locals prepared to voice their dislike of the proposal and I believe that there is a significant body of local opinion against the plan.

I live in Hereford Road, which backs on to the marshalling yards, and I am against this proposal for the following reasons:

The proposed redevelopment of the former marshalling yards will adversely affect the quality of life in a densely-populated area around the site, which is already badly affected by air and noise pollution resulting from Heathrow air traffic.

I am concerned that the proposed depot will upset the ecological balance of the wildlife, which is flourishing in this area having been left to nature since the late '60s.

There is no evidence in the Airtrack brochure of the consideration of an alternative site.

Although the proposals are at an early stage, as a first step, I strongly urge concerned residents to make their comments and concerns known by filling out the 'Your Comments' tear-out page in the Airtrack Proposal or sending their comments by mail. The closing date for comments is Monday, December 15.
