A prisoner is on the run after a hold up of a prison van in Feltham early this morning.

Wayne Joseph Connor, 20, fled at 7.30am after the suspects, both wearing balaclavas, threatened the prison van drivers with a shotgun near the Clockhouse roundabout in Bedfont. He was due to stand trial at Woolwich Crown Court for injuring two people in a racist attack and burglary.

The prison van, owned by Serco, had just collected prisoners from Feltham Young Offenders Institute when two men approached the vehicle and smashed the driver's side window. They then fled with Connor in a dark blue car.

Local officers and ambulance staff attended the scene, on Bedfont Road, and the driver of the van was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police are advising the public not to approach Connor if they know where he is but instead them on 0208 247 6060 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
