MORE than a thousand pounds has been spent on curry after council meetings in the past year.

After each full council meeting at Brent Council councillors, and others attending the meeting, are given a culinary feast costing £240.

Last year there were five full council meetings, putting the cost at £1,200.

The curry feeds 63 people, working at less than £4 per person.

A request for the cost was put in to Brent Council following the full council meeting on Monday January 20 when Liberal Democrat councillor Alison Hopkins suggested that instead of the regular curry money was donated to the food banks in Brent.

The same amount could feed roughly 575 people with curry sauce at £1.75 a jar, rice at 40p per kilo and chicken at £6.50 for 500g.
