A POLISH restaurant has been banned from playing loud music after 10pm, except on special occasions, following complaints from neighbours.

Residents claimed they were kept up by blaring music coming from Folvark, in Lampton Road, Hounslow, as well as customers chatting noisily in the restaurant's back garden.

One resident, Murli Nair, said that he found the noise 'stressful'. I go to sleep at 9.30pm, as I have early shifts, but the noise goes on until 11pm and sometimes later," he said. "Studying in the evenings is difficult because it is hard to concentrate when customers are making a noise in the garden."

At a meeting of the council's licensing panel on Tuesday night, councillors imposed a number of new restrictions, including: * Amplified music can be played until 10pm, rather than 11pm. * No music is to be played in the venue's back garden.

The restaurant's owner also agreed to work with Hounslow Council's noise pollution officers to ensure they understand what is an acceptable volume and where best to place speakers to minimise the impact on neighbouring residents.

The restaurant's owner was not available for comment before the Chronicle went to press.
