£100,000 worth of the controversial party drug meow meow has been seized by police in Wembley.

Officers from the Met's Central Task Force uncovered the haul during a vehicle search on Friday (October 7).

The proactive operation saw police stop a silver Vauxhall Vectra on Sudbury Court Drive at around 2.30pm.

Officers searched the vehicle and found four cardboard boxes containing 51 kilos of cathinone derivative, also known as meow meow, a drug which has hit the headlines for causing a series of deaths.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and is currently in police custody.

The seizure is thought to have a street value in excess of £100,000.

Det Insp Colin Stephenson said "This arrest and seizure has disrupted a significant supply of meow meow within London and the home counties. It will reinforce the message that the MPS will continue to combat the criminal networks engaged in drug trafficking"
