A WOMAN was stabbed in a shocking attempted robbery in Willesden Green.

The incident took place on February 7 near Chatsworth Road at the junction with Lydford Road, at around 8.15pm.

A 48-year-old woman was walking when a suspect tried to grab her handbag.There was a struggle, and she was stabbed in the abdomen.

She fell to the floor banging her head, while the suspect ran off in an unknown direction.

The woman managed to go to her friends house nearby and called the London Ambulance Service and the police.

She had a small stab wound to the right side of her abdomen and was taken to the hospital where she was operated on.

The suspect had their head covered up and it is thought this was done by wearing a hoodie.

Detectiveconstable Babita Chohan from the Priority Crime Unit said: "This is anunprovoked attack on a vulnerable lone female, I believe that therewould have been many people in the area at the time who may have evenheard or seen the events leading up to this awful assault.
