Police diving teams are scouring the River Thames by Wandsworth Bridge after receiving a tip-off that the gun used to shoot dead Fulham man Darcy Austin-Bruce was thrown in the water.

DCI Gordon Allison said: "We received information that a firearm that was used in the incident might have been flung into the middle of the river.

"If this information is correct, it means the tide will make it difficult to get to the middle but there's a chance of doing so when the tide is out."

Darcy, from Fulham Court, was killed aged 20 in May 2009 as he went to visit an inmate at Wandsworth Prison.

Officers from Trident were also present, and both teams will return on Thursday and Friday to continue the search.

Rupert Ross, 29, of Dawes Road, Fulham, was charged with murder in November last year, followed by Khori Hines, 35, from Rosebury Road, Fulham, and Casper Smith, 27, of no fixed address. The trio appeared at a case management hearing in February and will face trial later this year.
