FOUR more of the borough's burglars are behind bars as Hillingdon Police look to stem the tide of residential break-ins.
Reported burglaries in Hillingdon are up by 27 per cent compared to the same period last year, and the problem right across London has resulted in the re-launch of the Met Police's Operation Bumblebee, a prevention campaign making residents aware of the things that would-be thieves look out for when searching for properties to steal from.
Christine Jones, Met Police Commander, said: "Being burgled is a distressing experience and the memory of the offence can have a lasting effect. The Met takes burglary seriously - we want people to feel safe in their homes and in their communities and we are working hard to pursue those responsible and bring them to justice.
"Burglary, on the whole, is an opportunist crime, with 36 per cent resulting from insecure premises. Don’t let your home become a target."
