Charitable police officers took a break from fighting crime to raise money for a girls brigade.

Harrow borough commander Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens delivered a £755 cheque to the 1st Stanmore Girls Brigade on Friday which they raised after lending a hand on Christmas Eve during a charity bag pack in Waitrose’s supermarket in Northolt Road, South Harrow.

The money was donated by both store employees and shoppers, and brigade leader Claire said: “We are grateful that we have been chosen as the charity and will be carefully considering how to use the money to benefit the girls in our company.”
