Police are urging homeowners to be vigilant after a recent increase in burglaries.
The majority have taken place in the early hours of the morning.
The method of entry or attempted entry has been varied and has included slipping the front door lock, forcing open ground floor sash windows, breaking into first floor windows and pushing a stick with plastic wire attached through the letterbox to hook out front door keys.
In several cases offenders have escaped after the occupants have woken up. Detectives are urging residents to make sure windows are locked and to ensure handbags and keys are removed from hallways.
