POLICE are hunting a daylight sex pest who has been preying on young women in the Wormwood Scrubs park area.

During the summer months three incidents were reported to police involving a man lurking around the park and pestering young females.

The first incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Friday, July 22, when the man was seen to be acting suspiciously in the park, leering and following female dog walkers.

At a similar time, just over a month later, on Wednesday August 31, a 16-year-old fled the park after the suspect began shouting obscenities and following her.

The most recent incident took place during the early evening of Sunday, September 11, when a woman and her daughter were walking their dog along the path in the wooded area of the park.

Fifteen minutes after hearing screams, they were approached by a man in an agitated state who asked for the time and ran off. A few minutes later he charged at the pair, but made no physical contact.

Fearing for their safety, they fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged between 20 to 30 years old, wearing a baseball cap, loose trousers, possibly denim jeans and a jean jacket.

Police are urging people to be careful and to be aware of their surroundings.

Detective Chief Inspector Will Young from Hammersmith and Fulham Police said: "There have been a number of minor offences of a sexual nature within Wormwood Scrubs park and I would like to take this opportunity to remind users of the park to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

"I would urge anyone with any information to come forward. This park is a low crime area but following a few basic crime prevention guidelines we can keep it this way. If possible keep to the open areas and be aware of your surroundings."

Anyone with information should contact police on 0208 246 2747 or by calling the non-emergency number 101.
