A man jailed for a series of raids on mosques, who was last known to be living in Kew, is wanted on recall to prison.

Anthony Chieke was released on licence from prison on July 9, after serving part of a 42-month jail sentence for burglary, but police say he has since broken the terms of his release.

The 45-year-old, previously reported as being from Ealing, had admitted burgling a series of mosques, along with other offences, for which he was sentenced at Plymouth Crown Court on May 16 last year.

He had been staying at a hostel in Kew, just over the river from Brentford, following his release but police said despite numerous efforts to locate him his whereabouts remain unknown.

PC Dave Simms, of Richmond Police, said: "We have carried out extensive enquiries to try and locate Anthony Chieke, but so far, these have been unsuccessful so we are now appealing to members of the public to assist us. If anyone knows his whereabouts or has any information then please contact Richmond Police.

"Anthony Chieke is also known as Abraham or Ibrahim Jakobovisicheke. He is known to frequent different parts of the country and has no known address but he most recently spent time in Devon and Cornwall.

"He is very distinctive looking and sounding. He is 6ft7 tall. He is of slim build with dark hair, balding on top. He has a small bump on the right side of his head."

Anyone with information is asked to call Richmond Police on 020 8721 5894 or the non-emergency number police number 101. For an immediate sighting of Chieke please call 999.
