Last week's Chronicle carried at letter from a reader in Feltham complaining about the actions of the police neighbourhood response team. I would like to express my appreciation of the Metropolitan Police in their relationship with me.

Approximately four weeks ago when the weather was very warm (remember that?) an intruder got into my home through an open conservatory door and stole a wallet containing about £75 and a Casio Exilim pocket camera.

I discovered the theft the next morning when the wallet, minus the cash but still containing the credit cards and everything else, was found in a drain outside the conservatory door - there was no sign of the camera.

I called the police and was visited promptlyby two uniformed police officers who took all details. This was followed by a phone call informing me of the crime reference number and, later the same day, I was visited by a scene of crime officer who examined the premises.

Later I also received a phone call from victim support and, a couple of days later, the local Police Community Support team popped in.

In all, I was very appreciative of the police response and follow-up action, which could not be faulted - full marks to Hounslow Police.
