METAL bars, drugs paraphernalia and sharp objects, have been found by police during a search of Recreation Park in Southall.

Officers from Southall Green Neighbourhood Team made the find after joining forces with the MET to scour the park for potential drugs and weapons on Friday July 23.

Police said it has long been a target of theirs to reducing anti-social behaviour and drug related offences in the park.

Sergeant Richard Moelwyn-Hughes said: “We are very pleased with the result of the search some of these metal bars could have been potential weapons by the way they were secreted. Operations such as these send a message out to the criminal community that we will not tolerate anti social behaviour in the park and anyone acting in this way will be arrested."

Inspector Julian Houlton of Ealing Police Operations added: “This operation was conducted to deter any youth possible violence before the end of the School Summer Term. Working in partnership with Featherstone High School, London Borough of Ealing and Metropolitan Police specialist teams, Southall Broadway SNT are tackling robbery, anti-social behaviour and drug offences to fully eradicate these issues and to make the park a safer place for the local community to enjoy.”

Previous initiatives at the park have included drug operations, implementing a dispersal zone and regular police patrols, to make the area a safer place.
