MOTORCYCLE riders who create headaches for residents in Northwood Hills are giving police officers the slip by disappearing into fields.
Hillingdon police and council are searching for ways they can put an end to the problem, which sees the noisy riders cause havoc in Highlands Road, and Chesnut Avenue.
Haste Hill golf course, The Drive, has also complained about the nuisance.
Residents have resorted to calling in police over the riders, who tear up and down the streets on scooters and other types of bike, often without helmets and gunning their engines.
But officers who arrive on the scene are unable to chase them when they ride over the nearby fields and often disappear into woodland.
Solutions being looked into include installing gates on some of the pathways they use but funding is still being sought.
Some of the riders spotted are described as young and often do not wear helmets.
The problem is not exclusive to Northwood Hills.
Early this year, police released a picture of two youths riding motocross motorcycles - the pillion passenger possibly as young as seven - near Pole Hill Park in Hillingdon.
The bikes are not for use on public roads and can present huge insurance problems if they collide with another driver.
