POLICE found £10,000 when they swooped on a brothel in a dawn raid this morning.

The money, believed to be linked to drugs and sex work, was discovered at a property in Myrtle Road, Hounslow, in the early hours of today. No arrests were made but the brothel has been closed down.

The raid was the latest step in a summer crackdown on anti-social behaviour, led by Hounslow Council and the police.

A suspected drugs den in Beech Road, Bedfont, was raided earlier this month following complaints from neighbours.

One woman was arrested for possession of drugs and a man was arrested for allowing his home to be used by people taking drugs. They both received a police caution.

The number of calls about anti-social behaviour in the borough between July 1 and August 18, the halfway mark of the three-month crackdown, is up by 13 per cent on last year to 1,987, according to the council.

During the same period, violent crimes are down 29 per cent on last year, to 121.

The crackdown has also seen a number of clean-ups across the borough, the launch of a borough-wide controlled drinking zone and the introduction of a dispersal zone on the Convent Way and Ringway estates in Heston, among other measures.

Hounslow Council leader Jagdish Sharma said: “This is a good start to the campaign but we cannot allow our guard to slip.

“I am sure the increased police presence has made a few more people stop and think, and I am particularly pleased about recent community clean-ups.”

The crackdown will continue next Wednesday, September 4, with a ‘Big Tweet’ encouraging people to report anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhoods.
