A police car has been flipped on to its roof in Lampton Road, Hounslow, this morning as it swerved to avoid a collision.

The accident occurred at 8.45am near to the junction with Spring Grove Road and person was seen by a Chronicle reporter being stretchered into an ambulance about 25 minutes later.

More than a dozen officers, including three vans and three cars, arrived at the scene and traffic is currently moving.

An eyewitness from Lampton Road said: "The police car was driving straight forward, quite fast. Another car was going in the opposite direction and the police car swerved and tipped over."

Police later released a statement to say the car was responding to an emergency call. It added that both occupants of police car and the driver of the other car were injured, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.

All three were taken to West Middlesex Hospital in an ambulance.

Supt Clive Chalk said "I have visited everybody concerned in todays accident, at West Middlesex Hospital. Fortunately I can confirm there are no serious injuries in the circumstances.

"The accident is being investigated by independent officers from the Traffic OCU. Hounslow Borough on average receives between 50 - 100 emergency calls per days. Accidents such as these are rare although unfortunately we have had two accidents in the past month."
