PASSERS-BY were left stunned during outbreaks of violence in separate areas of the borough.

The first fight took place in Hillside,Stonebridge, on Monday last week, when police were called to a confrontation involving six youths.

One of the teenagers had been hit with a glass bottle and was taken to hospital but he refused to speak to police and his attackers escaped before officers arrived shortly after 12pm.

On Tuesday last week a man was arrested following an unrelated fight opposite Alperton station in Ealing Road, in which metal bars were used.

Laura Sothern, 45, from Hanwell, witnessed the 6pm altercation between two men, one in his 30s and the other aged approximately 20.

She said: "I came out of the station and heard people screaming and there were these two blokes really going for each other.

"People were standing around just watching them and not doing anything and I started shouting at people, saying call the police.

"It was frightening and I can see why no-one wanted to get involved." Police separated the pair and the arrested man has since been released on bail until July 25.
