A PLUMBER was today cleared over the death of a dance teacher who inhaled toxic fumes from a faulty boiler at her Bedfont flat.

Elouise Littlewood was found dead at her new flat in Wooldridge Close, Bedfont Lakes, on February 28, 2008, after breathing in deadly carbon monoxide gas.

The 26-year-old's lodger Simon Kilby, now 35, remains in a coma after suffering organ failure and massive brain damage, with doctors having said his condition will never improve.

Paul Williamson was accused of passing the heater in Ms Littlewood's flat as safe without carrying out the necessary safety checks.

But the 53-year-old, of Sutton, was today cleared, after a three month-trial at the Old Bailey, of manslaughter, grievous bodily harm and breaching gas safety regulations.

Croydon-based company Malden Plumbing was also cleared of failing to discharge a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

However, Judge Richard Hone QC criticised the Met Police for losing key exhibits during its four-year investigation.
