REVISED plans to build the first new Thames River crossing for a decade have been submitted for permission.

REVISED plans to build the first new Thames River crossing for a decade have been submitted for permission.

Battersea-based architect company One World Design has applied to build a 170m-long bridge linking Wandsworth and Fulham, at the spot where The Queen boarded the royal barge for the diamond jubilee flotilla last year.

Original plans submitted to the council in October, showed the multi-million pound bridge connected to the existing Grade II listed Battersea railway bridge.

However, following objections from English Heritage, the scheme has been modified. Now the plan is for two new river piers to be erected so the jubilee bridge would stand adjacent to the railway bridge, rather than be attached to it.

A consultation on the new plans is now open and residents can contact the council with their comments on the plans until July 31.
