PLANS to expand the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre in Northwood have been given the go-ahead.

Councillors at Hillingdon Council's north planning committee meeting on Thursday night approved an application for a one-storey extension at the centre, based on the campus of Mount Vernon Hospital in Rickmansworth Road.

Cancer patients who visit the centre receive support and holistic therapy, including counselling, pampering and relaxation classes, designed to help patients alongside their treatment.

The extension will provide space for three new offices and a disability lift although the charity has not yet revealed what the offices will be used for. However, it is thought the extra space will allow for an increase in services.

A report said the extension would have an L-shaped design and the ground on which it would be constructed will need to be be built up to provide a flat floor level.
