LAST year saw the launch of Place West London, a major one day business summit designed to address the future economic prosperity of west London.
2010 will again see the one day conference-led event, with supporting exhibition and networking dinner, highlight the current and future key social & economic challenges facing the sub-region.
The inaugural event was deemed to be very successful and the conference and exhibition were attended by senior professionals from the world of politics, local government, investment, regeneration and business. The summit this year will focus on areas such as the mature property, construction and investment and employment markets in west London and the conference programme will discuss headline issues around People, Places, Infrastructure and Economy.
The 2009 event attracted over 300 people from 130 organisations from across Greater London and the public and private sector, with another 200 attending the evening dinner. In addition, there were 70 top level speakers offering varied and interesting sessions as part of the conference programme.
Ross Sturley, Place West London said: “We are going to take the winning components of the launch event and further develop these areas to ensure an even more successful event this year; as a result we fully expect to attract an equally diverse and dynamic group of delegates.”
London’s Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes opened the Conference last year, saying that the economy of West London is as important to the Capital as that of the City of London, and that to think of West London as a “leafy suburb” is to misunderstand the challenges.
“West London is the heart and lungs of London’s economy and you ignore it at your peril”, concluded Barnes. “The public and private sectors must work together to sustain our economies and communities”.
