A PIONEERING clinical study into breast cancer screening has been launched at Charing Cross Hospital.

Funded by Cancer Research UK in collaboration with the University of Leicester and Imperial College London, DNA from blood samples taken from women attending the breast screening clinic will be compared with the DNA of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Researchers hope that a simple blood test could, one day, be a more accurate way to test for the early signs of breast cancer than mammography screening for a lump.
