A salon owner spent a day giving a team of hairdressers from Australia an insight into his creative world.

Darren Ambrose, co owner of hairdressing salon D&J Ambrose in Bridge Street, Pinner welcomed the Australian FAME team (The Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence) during their visit to the UK for an inspiration afternoon.

Darren, assisted by Artistic Director, Luke Benson created a 'wardrobe’ environment at the Wella Academy in London to give the visiting team an insight into his creative world.

Darren said: “I spoke to the team about how I’ve invested in styling for collections with the extensive wardrobe we have for our work. I then presented a solo demo, before introducing the team to Luke.

"We recreated our own spin on the intricate plaits that we did at the Gyunel show for LFW in September, session styling mixed with editorial and with a D&J Ambrose stamp.  The day was very informal so that the team were able to ask questions, take pictures and get up close to the looks we created.

"For the second part of the session we sat down with them to show them our previous British Hairdressing Award collections as well as some of my older Avant Garde collections and talked them through how each look was created. I imparted as much advice as possible to the team; it’s fundamental for up and coming stylists to get as many strings to their bow as possible by knowing all aspects of hairdressing. It’s also essential that you are able to work as a team. I ended the day by giving the team tips and tricks on how to produce looks for a shoot/show and how to change something quickly if it’s not working.”

Team mentor, David Mannah said of the day: “We were blown away and extremely grateful and humbled by our experience.”
