Soaring temperatures over the weekend saw families turn up in droves to the first ever Hanworth street party with water pistols in tow.

Neighbours of Swift Road decorated the street with colourful bunting while Joe Ritchie, 16, aka DJ Joe, set up his music station as people arrived on Sunday (13) afternoon.

Cars were off limits as children got out their super soakers and enjoyed water fights cooling them down in the hot weather.

There was also face painting, playing with clay, and youngsters also brought out their bikes to ride freely as the area was turned into a play street.

Meanwhile parents and grandparents mingled with some getting hot under the collar preparing barbecue burgers and hot dogs.

The event organised by London Play's Barry O'Donovan was the first major step in a mission to get people holding more street parties so children can go out and play freely, in conjunction with Hounslow council.
