Last night (Wednesday, June 18) the end of year catwalk show was held at the college's Uxbridge campus off Gatting Way.

The first year students had been working on an accessories project and their creations included hats, bags, scarfs, head pieces and arm jewellery.

They also showed items from their Cast off to Catwalk project, in which they found items from charity shops in Uxbridge and made them into runway-ready garments.

The second year students sent their models down the catwalk in creations from their final major project, in which they had to make three items of clothing and accessories.

"The quality of the work this year has been amazing," said Rosalyn Stevenson, section manager at the college. Particularly our first years - I've never seen such high quality work in a first year group."

Three of their graduates - Rica Palapar, Merina Limbu and Laura Hayes - are going to London College of Fashion in September.

"A few are also going to university to fashion design, journalism and production," she added. All the garments were made on site in the college's workshops.

"They have been doing a lot of overtime and work at home as well - they're very dedicated students."

Ms Stevenson thanked course tutor Alan Kelly for his hard work.

"I would really suggest our course," she said. "We offer industry experience and some of our students went to Stockholm on an exchange. Fashion is a growing industry, it's a good thing to get into. There's so many sides to it."
