Events took place across the country to raise money for Sport Relief, a charity event from Comic Relief and BBC Sport.

The charity helps vulnerable people in the UK and the world's poorest countries and more than £51m was raised during a live show on the BBC on Friday.

Youngsters, teenagers, teachers and workers across the borough added their own contribution to the charity effort by creating their own Sport Relief challenges or completing the Sport Relief mile.

At Whiteheath Junior School in Whiteheath Avenue, Ruislip, children worked up a sweat in an outdoor aerobics class.

Eight-year-olds Stephanie Sullivan, a pupil at Whiteheath Junior, and her best friend Kayla Gargan took part in a Swimathon at Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, Gatting Way, Uxbridge, raising a massive £700.

Pupils and staff walking at Hedgewood School in Weymouth Road, Hayes, walked a mile around their playground dressed in the Sport Relief colour, red.

Competition was stiff at a table tennis tournament at Bishop Ramsey School in Hume Way, Ruislip.

Uxbridge College staff and students donned fancy dress to run a mile at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium in Gatting Way, Uxbridge.

So did youngsters at Bishop Winnington-Ingram School in Southcote Rise, Ruislip.

At St. Helen’s College in Parkway, Hillingdon, pupils and staff enjoyed a day of fundraising including a triathlon, skipping and basketball.
