Families flocked to Little Britain Lake to take part in a free Family Fishing Day.

Youngsters picked up rods, got their hands dirty with live bait and reeled in some cracking catches at the event organised by Hillingdon Council.

On Sunday, July 20 and Sunday, August 3 families made their way to the lake in Packet Boat Lane, Cowley, where between 9.30am and 3.30pm there were hourly introduction to fishing sessions, river dipping, a bouncy castle, face painting and a craft tent.

Keith Arthur, presenter of Tight Lines on Sky TV, was on hand to answer questions and hand out prizes to youngsters with council leader, Councillor Ray Puddifoot.

Local anglers and associations gave tips to people on fishing in the borough.

Mr Puddifoot said: “Fishing is a great way for people of all ages to spend time outdoors, and Little Britain Lake is a wonderful place to do so.

“These fishing days are always popular with people keen to try angling for the first time; hundreds of people came along last year and I am grateful to all the experienced local anglers who give up their time to help at these events. We couldn’t do it without them.”
