Gardeners celebrated the highest number of entries in years at a summer flower show.

The Great Barn in Manor Farm, Ruislip, was bursting at the beams with flowers, shrubs, cacti and succulents, fruit and vegetables and floral art at the Ruislip Central Horticultural Society (RCHS) Summer Show.

Handicraft and Photographic sections proved to be popular with members and judges were particularly impressed with the high standards of the bloomin' marvellous displays.

Despite heavy showers and thunder on Saturday, June 28, there was an impressive turnout, not only of members but of the general public too.

Worthy winners, including youngster Eleanor Garner who won in the under 12 category, were given certificates and cups by Sally Gleave, whose parents were long standing members of the RCHS. The Reg and Rose Langston Cup for Roses was presented in their honour.

The next RCHS autumn show will return to the Great Barn on Saturday, September 13 .

If you would like to join members in a fish and chip supper quiz night at St Lawrence Church Hall, in Bridle Road, Eastcote on September 27 call publicity officer Warren Reeves on 01923 451616. Tickets cost £9.
