MORE people have put their names to a petition objecting to any plans to downgrade services at Ealing Hospital.
On Thursday last week, Prospective Parliamentary candidate Councillor Gurcharan Singh headed to Northfields tube station to hear the views of the public about the leaked NHS London proposals which revealed the Accident and Emergency department, children’s services and the maternity ward could potentially close in a bid to address a £5billion pound funding crises.
With already 1,200 signatures on a paper petition, a further 200 people signed on the day and the councillor will continue gathering more names before submitting it to NHS London.
Cllr Gurcharan Singh said: "We saw very enthusiastic support from the local community in opposition to these plans and the campaign is really hotting up. People are very angry about the whole thing as Ealing Hospital is accessible to those especially in the Western parts of the borough.
"We will continue to go to other parts of the borough to collect more signatures for the petition."
