UNDER this new Labour administration, Brent Council is closing our day centres, shutting our libraries, sacking our staff, snatching our buildings from voluntary organisations and slashing our services.

Yet one thing remains untouched. The proposed new Civic Centre building at a cost of millions and already seemingly over budget. Why is this?

I came into politics to look after local people's interests and to ensure they received the best possible value for their money, not to waste it on unnecessary new buildings.

Before the election, the Labour Party raised objections to the cost of the civic centre, but now it is in power it seems happy to keep wasting our money on this monolith.
