A 75-year-old woman was hit by a van in Eastcote on Tuesday.

The pedestrian suffered head an face injuries, but they are not thought to be life threatening. She is currently being treated in hospital.

The incident occurred shortly after 10am, outside Budgens in Field End Road. A white Ford Transit van was seen to hit the pedestrian as she crossed the road.

Jeff Duley drove past the scene shortly afterwards. He said: "The windscreen of the van was smashed and the woman was lying in the road about 20ft away."

London Ambulance Service were on the scene within six minutes and took the victim to the severe trauma ward at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington.

A spokeswoman said: "She was conscious and breathing."
